Last month, we featured our client Benchmark Group, one of the largest engineering and architecture firms in Arkansas. This month we are highlighting the Fayetteville Public Library.
FPL offers materials for check-out including books, movies, Wi-Fi hotspots, and even fishing poles. They offer numerous programs for adults, teens, and children, including one of the largest Summer Reading programs in Arkansas. Along with check-out services, the library also offers free Wi-Fi, computer use, and spaces for the community to gather.
FPL was established in 1916 and has served Fayetteville for over 100 years. Its mission is to “strengthen our community and empower our citizens through free and public access to knowledge.”
According to its statistics, the library has over 90,000 registered cardholders who borrowed nearly 1.2 million items in 2017, and 185 people visit each hour on average. FPL’s 88,000 square-foot Blair Library was voted Library Journal’s 2005 Library of the Year and was the first registered LEED Silver-NC rating from the U.S. Green Building Council in Arkansas.
The library is planning on expanding its building to include a larger youth services department, genealogy area, and a multi-purpose space for programming and additional services. The expansion should be completed by 2020.
FPL is open seven days a week and provides 24/7 online access. Its physical hours are Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
