It’s that time of year and kids all across the nation are preparing for one day, Halloween. A time of year that has not only kids but also people of all ages running around in costumes searching for candy.

With that in mind, certain precautions are important to keep everyone safe and happy during the spookiest time of the year.

As a company that runs traffic through Northwest Arkansas, Little Rock, and Tulsa, On Time Logistics understands the need for safety. Here are some tips to help stay safe this up and coming Halloween night.

Trick-or-treating

October 31 will be a Tuesday this year, meaning that children going out to enjoy Halloween will be out earlier. That being said, it is still important to prepare you and your child.

Per tradition, if you trick-or-treat then you should wear a costume. Whether it be your child or you, make sure the costume fits properly to avoid tripping and lack of vision through masks.  Also, consider some sort of reflective gear or equipment on the costume.

Always check a neighborhood for proper lighting and solid grounding beforehand. Even in a safe environment, each child should be supervised while trick-or-treating.

Drive safely

Drivers during this time of year should be aware and engaged when driving. Just like when driving normally, safety practices should be implemented to ensure safety for trick-or-treaters during October 31.

Keep in mind children will be present, walking across streets in neighborhoods and crosswalks. Never use your cell phone when driving and pay special attention to traffic laws.

When it comes to parties, be alert that people and children could be passing in-between other parked cars. If you’re attending a party, always make use of taxies or Uber if you have any amount of alcohol in your system.

Parents should make it a point to imprint traffic laws into their child’s memory. Always bring flashlights with extra batteries when it gets dark.

Halloween is known to be spooky and scary, but it doesn’t have to be when taking the proper precautions. We hope you enjoy Halloween and have fun this holiday season.
